Christmas at Our House

We began our Christmas celebration on Christmas Eve. After a quiet morning, we drove out to Bubba and Pat's house. Aunt Al, Uncle Bryan, and Thomas came too. We all went to Pat and Bubba's church for communion and then we had our traditional Christmas Eve dinner of fried shrimp, fried oysters, fried crab claws, and twice baked potatoes. It was delicious as usual. Afterwards, we opened presents. Mason and Thomas had a ball. Mason kept asking, "Which one is mine?"

From Pat and Bubba's house, Rob, Mason, and I headed to our church for our favorite service of the year - the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. Mason fell asleep in the car, so we carried him in and laid him on the pew. He never woke up! Poor little fella. It was a beautiful service as usual and I love that our church does it the night before Christmas. What a perfect reminder of what Christmas is all about! After church, we tried towake Mason to put out the reindeer food and a snack for Santa but he asked me to do it for him. Next year, we will have to do all of that before going to Pat and Bubba's.

We woke up Christmas morning around 9:00! (Probably our last year for sleeping in.) Mason was so excited - he couldn't wait to see what Santa brought him!

After unwrapping all the presents and eating a little breakfast, we took a walk over to Aunt Al's house to see what Santa brought Thomas. They always have brunch and Pat and Bubba come over, but we are never finished unwrapping presents in time. Then we went back home so that I could finish preparing Christmas dinner and Mason could play with all his new stuff. It was a very relaxed day, as it should be. Everyone came over for a turkey dinner that night and we opened a few more presents. It was the perfect day! I just wish my family was close enough to come for dinner too!
