War Eagle!

Every year, we head down to Auburn to visit our friends, The Hankins, and catch a football game. This year, however, with the arrival of Maddie Hankins and the upcoming Payne wedding, we could not find a weekend that worked for both families. Fortunately, Mason and Julie are now at Auburn, so instead we stayed with them. We had the best time!! Sarah came down to join us too. Saturday morning, Mason popped his little head up in the bed and said, "Mama, Mama, it's light out side! It's time to go to the football game!" And what incredibily perfect weather for football! It was 46 degrees when we woke up. The high was 71 and by kickoff it was back to the low 60s and upper 50s. Julie prepared a huge breakfast for us. It was so good! Then we got ready and headed out to tailgate. Mason and Julie had reserved us the perfect tailgating spot! We had the best time hanging out and eating all the food we had brought - except for the soup! (For some reason the crock pot would not work plugged into my car.) The people across from us had a couple of TVs on so Rob could keep up with the State game. Go Dawgs! And we had college students on either side of us. One side was playing beer pong and the other had a funnel, but they were nice and kept it clean for the most part. A couple of guys even played football with little Mason some. Mason, Rob, and I met the Hankins at the Tiger Walk, and Mason and Emma cheered the boys on. We got to the game with just enough time to see Spirit, the Bald Eagle, fly!! I am always amazed - they are such beautiful birds! Mason was so excited to watch the football players. He would stand up and cheer loudly!! And we all had awesome seats - 50 yard line -thanks to Dad and Mr. Fleming! Mason made it through the entire game, and we even made it to roll Toomer's Corner!! What a fun way to spend a Saturday!

Sunday morning, Mason took us to the stables where he is working - taking care of the horses for the Equestrian Team. What a cool job! It is so beautiful out there. Little Mason loved on all the horses. I could not believe how friendly the yearlings were - they all ran up to the fence to be petted and even fought for attention! We then had a delicious burger and shake at Cheeburger Cheeburger before parting ways. What a fun weekend! I am looking forward to doing that again soon.
